Carlo CAMPANILE
Born in Naples on 21 July 1964, obtained a Bachelor degree in Political Science at the Oriental University of Naples on 28 June 1988, and initiated his diplomatic career on 4 March 1991, after having passed the national diplomatic examination. Has taken professional training at the Diplomatic Institute from 4 March to 4 December 1991, after which has immediately joined the Directorate General for Development Cooperation, Office XI, as his first appointment. On 6 June 1994 he took the position of Second Secretary for Commerce in Dakar and on 4 September 1995 became First Secretary. On 1 January 1996 he was confirmed at Embassy in Dakar as First Secretary for Commerce and again 15 October 1997 as First Secretary. On 30 October 1998 he took the position of First Secretary at the Permanent Representation to the Council of Europe in Strasburg. Was confirmed at the Permanent Representation to the Council of Europe in Strasburg with functions of Counsellor on 1 August 2001. Back to Rome on 6 June 2002 he worked at the Directorate General for Political Affairs and Human Rights, Office II. From December 2002 to May 2003 he took the professional development training for Counsellors at the Diplomatic Institute (as foreseen by art. 17, par. 7 of the D. Lgs from 24 March 2000, n. 85). From 4 February 2005 he headed Office II of the Directorate General for Political Affairs and Human Rights. He then moved to Mexico as Counsellor in Mexico City from 1 September 2005 and First Counsellor from 2 July 2006. Confirmed in Mexico City as First Counsellor on 29 August 2006. From 7 September 2009 he took the position of First Counsellor in Paris. From 27 September 2013 he headed Office XI of the Directorate General of Global Affairs. From 19 September 2016 up to 6 October 2019 he took functions as Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Federal Republic of Somalia. In 2019 has been designated as Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Slovenia. On the 13th of January 2020 he starts his mission in Slovenia.
Appointed Knight of Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy in 2008.
