{"id":5693,"date":"2024-01-04T13:42:10","date_gmt":"2024-01-04T12:42:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amblubiana.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-straniero\/codice-fiscale\/"},"modified":"2026-03-10T12:41:52","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T11:41:52","slug":"codice-fiscale","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/amblubiana.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-straniero\/codice-fiscale\/","title":{"rendered":"Tax code"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Codice Fiscale (C.F.) is a unique code used for identification in all dealings with Italian public administration and entities.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign citizens not resident in Italy may apply for a Tax ID Code in the following ways:<\/p>\n<p>1)Through the <strong>Italian Consular Office competent for their place of residence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The tax ID code can be requested by a foreign citizen from the <strong>Italian Consular Office competent for their place of residence <u>only<\/u><\/strong> in cases where the Tax ID Code is necessary <strong>for procedures to be carried out online and\/or for which the foreigner is unable to delegate a representative<\/strong> to apply to the Revenue Agency: in such cases, the Consular Office will forward the request to the Revenue Agency in Italy. Please contact the Consular Chancery at the email address <a href=\"mailto:consolare.lubiana@esteri.it\">consolare.lubiana@esteri.it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The request for a Tax ID Code, to be made by filling out the appropriate <strong>form<\/strong>, must be submitted together with a <strong>copy of an identity document<\/strong> and a statement of <strong>reason<\/strong> for the request.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2)Through a <strong>special power of attorney<\/strong> by which a person is delegated to submit the Tax ID Code request form directly to the <strong>Revenue Agency offices<\/strong> located within Italian territory, pursuant to Art. 1 of the implementing Ministerial Decree of 17 May 2001, no. 281.<\/p>\n<p>The addresses of the Revenue Agency offices can be found on the website www.agenziaentrate.it.<\/p>\n<p>For the legalisation of foreign documents: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/italiani-all-estero\/traduzione-e-legalizzazione-documenti\/legalizzazione-documenti\/\">Legalizzazione documenti \u2013 Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3)Directly at the Revenue Agency offices located within Italian territory<\/strong>, once you have entered the country.<\/p>\n<p>For further details, it is recommended to consult the Revenue Agency&#8217;s &#8220;Mini Guide to the Tax ID Code for Foreigners,&#8221; available in various languages on the website: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agenziaentrate.gov.it\/portale\/mini-guida-codice-fiscale-per-stranieri\">L&#8217;Agenzia &#8211; Mini guida codice fiscale per stranieri &#8211; Agenzia delle Entrate<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In particular:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>EU citizens intending to stay in Italy<\/strong> may request a tax ID code by submitting form AA4\/8 to a territorial office of the Italian Revenue Agency.
