In fact, technologies used in navigation techniques evolve over time, yet the officers of the Italian Navy bear everlasting allegiance to core values of ethics, loyalty, discipline and honour.

The training campaign is indeed aimed at promoting team-building and improving cadets’ capacity of handling situations, both in technical terms (as regards navigation) and in all the Naval Diplomacy activities conducted during port visits, involving host countries and Italian communities abroad.

The 7 young officers embarked (including 3 women) will take turns at the steering wheel, learn sail handling and use the sextant to work out the ship’s position, training in activities aimed at consolidating the theoretical knowledge and competencies in nautical sciences and seamanship acquired in the third year at the Academy.

After leaving Koper, the Italian Navy sailing ship will continue to sail in the waters of the Adriatic Sea, heading for the Aegean Sea. Her itinerary will include a number of port calls in Albania, Greece and Turkey. The tour will end on 23 September in Portoferraio.

DOWNLOAD IMAGES – Copyright Marina Militare

Focus:

Stopover Itinerary LinkItinerary Link

Website LinkLink

The Italian Navy Training Ship Caroly (A 5302) is a yawl sailing ship launched in 1948 at the “Baglietto” shipyard in Varazze.
